Africa-Press – Tanzania. KAGERA Regional CCM Chairman, Nazir Karamagi has appealed to Tanzanians to embrace unity and teamwork, reminding Kagera residents on adverse effects of the 1978/79 Kagera War against dictator Idi Amin.

“Our primary focus should be nation-building, not allowing political differences to sow discord to the extent of breeding enmity,” Karamagi said.

He added: “Leaders should also tell people on the achievements made by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in various sectors including education, health, water and infrastructures.”

He was speaking recently during the CCM’s 49th anniversary celebrations held in Biharamulo District. He urged Tanzanians to pray for the values of peace, justice and integrity to be upheld.

“We must all do our part to achieve our development goals that are realistic and within reach,” he hinted.

He highlighted that Tanzania has for a long time been a haven for peace where hundreds of refugees from neighbouring countries have taken refuge.

The regional party’s leader urged Tanzanians to support President Samia’s initiatives which are gaining recognition internationally by working hard and ensuring the sustainability of government projects for the benefit of both current and future generations.

“President Samia’s efforts are clear for all to see. We must all join hands and support her efforts by working hard for our country’s development. The projects are aimed at unlocking economic opportunities that will accelerate national development,” he said.

He also appealed to residents in the Lake Zone regions including Mwanza, Mara, Simiyu, Kagera and Geita to take advantage and utilise numerous projects being implemented by President Samia.

“The projects include the mega bridges such as Kigongo-Busisi and the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway and ships such as MV New Mwanza. This is a golden opportunity to do business and create job opportunities,” he said.

He also appealed to farmers in the region to utilise sparingly the ongoing rains by planting fast maturing crops and must ensure that drainage systems are kept clean to avoid looming floods.

“Kagera Region is a hub in the Great Lakes region where investors could benefit by exploiting abundant resources including agriculture and livestock sectors. The region also has many untapped valleys suitable for irrigation schemes. The government is ready to support them,” he said.
