Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has clarified that no aspirant has been disqualified or eliminated from the ongoing party’s nomination process ahead of the General Elections,

Speaking to media in Dodoma today, 13, July, 2025, the party’s Ideology, Publicity and Training Secretary, Mr Amos Makalla, dismissed reports claiming that some aspirants have already been eliminated from the race or failed to make it into the top three.

“For the record, since the beginning of this process, which has involved vetting sessions at the ward, district, and regional political committee levels, no one has been axed out,” he insisted.

He noted that all reports from lower-level vetting committees have been submitted to the national-level body for scrutiny, in line with the party’s established procedures.

“I have seen misleading information circulating in the media, suggesting that some individuals have sailed through while others have been dropped. Let it be known there is no such thing. This is an ongoing process within our party,” he emphasized.

Mr Makalla urged all CCM members who have expressed interest in various leadership positions to remain calm and patient as the party proceeds with its internal democratic processes.

He stressed that the final decisions on who will officially contest in the party’s internal primaries will be made by the Central Committee of CCM.

“As per our procedures, a small number of aspirants will be selected to proceed to the internal primaries, where they will be voted for at various levels, including wards, constituencies, party wings and designated party meetings,” he said.

Those who emerge victorious in the primaries will again be subjected to final vetting to identify one official candidate to fly the CCM flag in each respective position including councilorship, parliamentary, and House of Representatives seats.

Mr Makalla acknowledged that more than 30,000 members have expressed interest in leadership positions, describing as a clear sign of the party’s strength, appeal, and the trust Tanzanians have in CCM.

“The number of applicants is far greater than the available positions. Still, the party greatly values all those who stepped forward, recognising their patriotism and commitment to the party,” he said.

He added that for those who do not make it through the nomination process, there are still many important roles they can play within the party.

“The fact that someone is not selected does not mean they are sidelined. The party has a rich pool of members, and there are many other duties they can serve in. They are still appreciated, and we urge them to remain loyal and supportive members of CCM,” he said.
