Africa-Press – Tanzania. The Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has insisted its members to get vaccinated against the Covid-9 pandemic.
The Party’ Regional Secretary, Mr Hamis Magoye, made the call over the weekend during the meeting that gathered various participants in Bariadi District Council, including government officials, politicians and religious leaders.
“We need to support the government’s effort in the fight against the Covid-19 by getting vaccinated and encourage other citizens to do so. We are contemplating over submitting a proposal to relevant authorities to deny opportunity of contesting in elections an unvaccinated aspirant,” he stressed.
H said it would be proposed that whoever wants to contest has to submit vaccination certificate as part of prerequisites.
Again, he added, the Party was also set to convene a central committee’s meeting in which vaccination will be among top agendas, with candidates proposing more strategies to educate and encourage members of the community to have the jab.
“Continuous public education is a must to let people know what the jab means to them and the nation. Having a jab is among the weapon to defeat this epidemic,” reiterated the CCM secretary.
Bariadi District Commissioner (DC), Mr Lupakisyo Kapange, commented that what government does is to make sure all vaccination centers have enough vaccines.
According to him, the District teams up with other groups, including politicians for public education, mostly through public rallies to continue telling members of the community on the importance of the Covid-19 jab.
He also thumbed up the CCM idea that looked forward to put a clause that will require all aspirants for different positions to submit Vaccination Certificates.
“All selected centers have enough vaccines as the government intends ending if not reducing the spread. Let us support the efforts as it is for our own benefits,” he said.
