Africa-Press – Tanzania. A NUMBER of firms coming to sponsor this year’s CEOs (Chief Executives Officers) Retreat Golf tournament continues to swell after six more firms jumped into the bandwagon yesterday.
Organised by Sea Cliff Resort and Spa Golf Club of Zanzibar, the annual event is scheduled to tee off on September 4th this year at the nine-hole course located near Indian Ocean of Zanzibar.
Sea Cliff golf club Manager Elias Soka told the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ from Zanzibar yesterday that all is well and the course is in good shape for the regional-level golf event.
The day-long event will cover 18 holes and as usual it will bring on course CEOs and diplomats from around the continent.
He noted that the tournament will be played in the stable ford format and is open for men and lady golfers.
He said they have other five companies which have joined the sponsors’ list and that is good sign that the tournament continues to grow up.
Soka named the firms as Melia Zanzibar, Mohamed Enterprise Ltd (METL), Tulia Zanzibar, Zanzi Resort and Cape Town Fish Market.
“We are grateful for all sponsors, the big number assures us to have a wonderful event that also ensures golfers to enjoy their Zanzibar trip,” added.
Other companies; Exim Bank, Qatar Airways, John Walker, ComNet, Sea Cliff Resort and Spa Zanzibar, PrintPlus, Auric Air, Serena Hotels, Park Hyatt Zanzibar, Resolution Insurance and Rahisi were the first to conform bankrolling the event.
Soka said the door is still open for other companies, institutions and individuals wishing to support the event.
He stressed they are also delighted to have 73 golfers who have already confirmed their participation while the door is still open for others to join.
Those include the event’s defending champion, Joyce Ndyetabura who recently joined and
the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Damas Ndumbaro among those confirmed.
The list also includes Sophie Nyanjera, the former Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) administrator and Pricilla Karobia who are Kenyans.
Soka has also received entry from Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo golf club.
The organisers said they have special offers for players and that included a discounted rates for accommodation, but the golfers are advised to book in advance.
In partnership with Auric Air Service Ltd, the golfers are given a chance to enjoy special airfare on Auric Air DAR/ZNZ/DAR, & ARUSHA/ZNZ Charter Flight.
