Africa-Press – Tanzania. KAGERA Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila has urged the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) to pull up their socks by charting strategies for increasing revenue collection.
Equally, he tasked TRA to increase the number of taxpayers, create a good environment to do business and demonstrate fairness when estimating and collecting taxes from traders.
He was speaking during a meeting to award ‘Winners for Taxpayers’ Appreciation Day 2022’ held in Bukoba Municipal Council recently.
Mr Chalamila commended the winners of the 2022 Taxpayers’ awards, urging all Tanzanians to pay taxes voluntarily.
“Paying the right taxes was in compliance to the country’s laws. Each one of us should feel obliged to pay tax as this enables the government to implement various development projects and provide essential services to the people, including health, water and education,” he said.
The Winners for Taxpayers’ Appreciation Day 2022 awards with their respective Councils in brackets include Faizal Kainamula, Kalithar Osman , Modestus Ruhinda (Biharamulo DC), Kyejus Coffee Company Ltd, Agnes Rweyemamu, Malsud and Sons Ltd (Muleba).
Karagwe Marketing Co. Ltd, Linus Lyakurwa, Kaderes Peasant Development (Karagwe DC), Fabian Buberwa , Rulinda Enterprises, Experius Babeiya (Missenyi DC), Zachwa Investment, Kaizirege English Medium, Godwin Muganda (Bukoba DC), Ngara Oil Co (T) Ltd, Assa Kwale, Iman Sempiga (Ngara DC).
The winners in the Large Tax Category include Ambiance Distillers Ltd , Edi Global Ltd and Karagwe Marketing while the winners in the medium category include Ngara Oil, Linus Lyakurwa and Kajuna Enterprises.
Winners in the small category include Wilbroad Kalumuna, Julius Kyabwishukuru and Fatema Visram. The winners in the Tax Support Category are TCCIA Kagera, JWT Kagera and Muleba District Council.
