Africa-Press – Tanzania. NIGERIAN industrial conglomerate, Dangote Industries is considering to extend its investment into producing fertilizer in Tanzania, the billionaire business magnate, Aliko Dangote said in Dar es Salaam on Monday.
Dangote told President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the State House in Dar es Salaam, the group will continue investing in other areas including its plan to set up a fertilizer plant in the country.
Dangote Fertlizer Limited, his subsidiary company collaborated with the government of Togo to build a 2 billion US dollar phosphate fertliser plant in Lagos.
Already, Dangote has invested a 770million US dollar (1.761trn/-) cement plant in southern town, Mtwara. Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) has also been supplying the company with natural gas.
“We will continue investing in Tanzania to create more jobs, revenues and improve livelihoods for Tanzanians,” he said briefly. “The President needs to be support and we have assured that we will seriously invest in this country…” he said.
President Samia ordered the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Eng. Hamad Masauni and Investment Minister Geoffrey Mwambe to urgently resolve challenges facing Dangote’s Mtwara based—cement factory.
It is on record that the factory has had series of challenges prompting strikes from workers. The Ministry of Industry and Trade as well that of Investment held a meeting with the management of the factory mid last month following a strike that lasted for about five days.
