Africa-PressTanzania. DAR ES SALAAM Institute of Technology (DIT) has completed installing air pollution censors across the country’s commercial capital that will monitor and give daily trends of the region’s air quality.

The region is part of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group that is monitoring 97 cities around the world.DIT’s Senior Lecturer and Team Leader, Dr. Asinta Manyele revealed in Dar es Salaam Thursday, the new gadgets will officially produce reports beginning August this year.

She said the technology used will also help provide mitigation measures.“We have installed censors in all the five districts (Ubungo, Kigamboni, Kinondoni, Temeke and Ilala) in Dar es Salaam. The gadgets will provide real-time data about air pollution in the region,” she said.

The expert, believes the censors are necessary in mapping air quality situation and for supporting policy makers to make informed decision to confront climate change.
