Africa-Press – Tanzania. It it blessing for Dodoma’s business community and residents at large as the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) commemorates its 48th anniversary, thanks to the large number of people who arrived in the capital city for the event.
Transport and hospitality are among the sectors that benefited greatly, as they are crucial for anyone who made it to the city.
A Daily News reporter observed how bodaboda and tricycle operators were busy transporting people from the Dodoma railway station and bus terminals to city centers, hotels, and lodges as they arrived.
However, when they arrived at guest houses and lodges, they were met with signs reading “hakuna nafasi or Nafasi imejaa,” meaning the facilities were full, and service providers had to refer them to other places.
“We have been experiencing a high number of people asking if they can get a room recently. Our rooms are fully occupied here. CCM has brought us a blessing,” said a lodge manager who declined to be named.
Mohamed Elias, a bodaboda rider who operates around Jamhuri Street in Dodoma, admits that for two consecutive days, he had been earning a lot as the city welcomes guests from different parts of the country.
“Yesterday (Tuesday), I was so busy, and I made a lot of money. Customers were calling from bus terminals, the SGR station, and other places.
Those who hadn’t booked hotels or lodges were asking where they could find the best facilities. Unfortunately, most of them were already booked,” he said.
