Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE newly appointed Minister for Information, Communications and Information Technology, Dr Ashatu Kijaji said the government will not bear with media houses and journalists whose publications will endanger national security and create tension in the public.

Dr Kijaji gave the warning, on Thursday, barely two days after being sworn in to the new post by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Dr Kijaji said any information that will be aired or published with an intention to tarnish the country’s image as well as create tension to the public is uncalled.

She gave remarks when officiating at the training of the ministry’s audit committee saying that patriotism, hard work, team work spirit should be embraced when exercising their duties.

Dr Kijaji said scribes must be guided with patriotism to the nation, thus they must publicize information and news that Tanzanians will benefit and have wider national interests.

“I want journalists to shy away from giving out information which in one way or another will tarnish the image of our nation, I will not tolerate anyone who will choose to tarnish good image of the country,” she cautioned Dr Kijaji said for the ministry to demonstrate the issue of team work, the ministry’s leadership must realign its system in finding best way to accommodate fully the Information department which has just been introduced in the ministry.

On the auditing team, she said, they must come up with new ideas and advise the management on how best practices.

She said they must improve efficiency, competence and accountability as they put patriotism at the forefront in their performance.
