Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRESIDENT and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has met with the newly elected Vice President , Dr Emmanuel John Nchimbi, who paid him a courtesy visit at State House in Zanzibar.
This marks their first official meeting in Zanzibar since both leaders were elected in the October 29 general election.
Dr Nchimbi travelled to Zanzibar on November 22, 2025, to formally introduce himself to Zanzibaris following his election as Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, after running as the running mate to President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan.
According to the press release from the Stone Town based State House, President Mwinyi congratulated Dr Nchimbi on his victory and sworn In as Vice President, assuring him of full cooperation in addressing matters related to the Union.
He noted that significant progress had already been made in resolving long-standing Union challenges, stressing the need to sustain these efforts to further strengthen the Union for the benefit of both sides.
For his part, Vice President Nchimbi congratulated President Mwinyi on his re-election as President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council with a resounding victory. He expressed confidence that Zanzibar will record even greater development in the next five years.
Speaking on Union affairs, Dr Nchimbi pledged close collaboration with the Government of Zanzibar to advance the shared commitment of building a stronger, more resilient Union.
