Africa-Press – Tanzania. CYPRUS Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Constantinos Kombos, will visit Tanzania from tomorrow to Thursday on behalf of the European Union’s (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas.
The visit is part of broader EU efforts to strengthen its partnership with Tanzania and engage in high-level discussions on regional and global developments.
During his visit, Dr Kombos will meet with Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, as well as senior government officials, civil society representatives, business leaders and other key stakeholders.
The agenda will focus on enhancing EU–Tanzania relations, preparations for the 2025 General Election, economic cooperation under the EU’s Global Gateway strategy and regional security issues particularly developments in the Great Lakes region.
“Tanzania is a trusted and stable partner in a strategically important region. As we mark 50 years of EU–Tanzania relations this year, the EU remains committed to deepening our cooperation ranging from investment in critical raw materials and digital transformation to promoting democratic values and inclusive growth. Together, we can unlock new opportunities that benefit both Tanzanian citizens and European partners.”
EU Ambassador to Tanzania and the East African Community, Christine Grau, emphasised the importance of the visit:
“This visit underscores the EU’s commitment to a mature and strategic partnership with Tanzania, rooted in mutual interests. Following Foreign Minister Kombo’s visit to EU Headquarters in April, this visit reflects the continued strong engagement between the EU and Tanzania.”
The visit also builds on Minister Kombo’s productive meetings in Brussels earlier this year with EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, Director General for International Partnerships Koen Doens and European Investment Bank (EIB) Vice-President Thomas Östros.
Those discussions focused on advancing political dialogue, sustainable development and investment opportunities.
