Africa-Press – Tanzania. The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has issued a total of 2851 electricity installation licences from the financial year 2016/17 to 2019/20.
This was revealed yesterday by EWURA Communication and Public Relation Manager, Titus Kaguo in ongoing of the 45th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) Dar es Salaam.
He said in the year 2016/17 were issued 634, in 2017/18 issued 600 while 2018/19 increased to 654 and in the last financial year 2019/20 shot up to 963.
Mr Kaguo said the performance in electrical installations Licence issuances represents an increase of 3.2 per cent as compared to the previous financial year.
He said, according to section 8 of the electricity Act Cap 131 any person undertaken or seeks to undertake generation, transmission, distribution supply, system operation should require a licence. Either those Cross border trade in electricity, physical and financial trade require licences.
He said among of 2,851 licenses issued during the reference period, there were only 50 women and the rest were men.
He said the total number of the licence issued with their respective installed capacity from 2017/18 to 2019/20 was 20 with a capacity (MW) of 263.29.
