Africa-Press – Tanzania. FIFA has confirmed that the 2025 edition of the FIFA Unites: Women’s Series will be hosted in Morocco, with the opening matches set to take place on Sunday, October 26, in Berrechid.
In a statement published on its official website, the global football governing body revealed that the tournament will mark a historic moment for women’s football — as it will feature the Afghan women’s national team’s first international match, and also see Chad and Libya enter the FIFA women’s world rankings for the first time after the conclusion of the single-round league competition.
FIFA expressed its appreciation to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) for its cooperation and commitment to hosting the event, emphasizing its anticipation of a successful and inspiring tournament.
The organization further reaffirmed its dedication to implementing its broader strategy to support Afghan women’s football, a plan approved by the FIFA Council in May 2025. This initiative includes providing organizational and technical support to Afghan female players throughout their selection, training, and participation in the FIFA Unites: Women’s Series.
“More details about the tournament, including a detailed match schedule, will be announced soon on FIFA’s website,” the statement concluded.
