Four TZ ladies set for Kenya Open showdown

Africa-PressTanzania. FOUR Tanzanian ladies including the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana (DGC) Ladies Open Champions Angel Eaton, Madina Iddi, Neema Olomi and Vicky Elias have confirmed to participate in this year Kenyan Ladies Coast Open golf Championship.

The events to be played in different course of Kenyan coast are scheduled to start from 3rd to 7th August. Iddi, who, also serves as the Honourary Secretary of Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) confirmed to the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ yesterday saying the four golfers were already drilled for the tough battle along Mombasa coastline in the event organised by Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU).

“I want to confirm that we have submitted four entries for Leisure Golf events including myself. All of us top players who can bring throne home as we have done in the past events,” she said.

Golfers from all East African countries are eager waiting for the tournament which marks the resumption for the annual marathon for the Ladies. Coast Open showdown didn’t take place in 2020 following the Covid-19 pandemic. Tournament will start at Leisure Golf Club in Kwale County for the Leisure Trophy on Tuesday, August 3rdfor the 18-hole tee off.

Over 60 ladies have been drawn for the fierce at the Leisure Lodge course. Iddi said the draw shows Eaton who recently won DGC Ladies Open this month, will be the first Tanzania golfer to tee off at group 11 together with Ugandan Peace Kabasweka and host Sarah Kanyereri at 10:59 am.

Olomi will follow at 11:06 in a group of three consisting Esther Chumo and Susan Stoke all from Kenya. Elias will also follow immediately at 11:17 at group with Kenyan Louise Gitau and Mwongeli Zioka.

Madina Iddi, the TLGU honourary secretary, is scheduled to tee off in the last group at 11:48 am together with Chanelle Wangari, Terry Odoo and Lugina Bernini.

After Leisure the golfers will then move to the sea-link Mombasa Golf Club for Mombasa Cup on Wednesday, August 4th. Vipingo Ridge Golf Club in Kilifi County will host the tourney which will be the only non KLGU event on Thursday, August 5th.
