Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Police Force here is holding a-30-year-old man (name withheld), a resident of Masota village in Bukombe District for allegedly kidnapping, killing and burying his ex-girlfriend.
Regional Police Commander (RPC), Mr Henry Mwaibambe told journalists early this week that the accused was apprehended after the Force had received information about the missing girl.
He said initial investigations showed that the deceased left her home with the accused on June 13th this year and she never returned.
After the 28-year old Esta John, a resident of Ibamba in (Bukombe) District disappeared, the accused started phoning her parents, demanding all the money he had offered to her, under the agreement that the two would marry.
“The information we have is that before the two could implement their agreement, the man found that the girl wasn’t faithful, and therefore demanded back his costs,” said the RPC.
Police found the accused with some of the girl’s possessions and admitted to have kidnapped her. Having (girl) failed to respond to the order, the accused reportedly killed her and buried the girl in his home village.
Police visited the area and exhumed the girl’s body for identification and examination processes. Meanwhile, Police is also holding a woman from Nyamirembe Ward (name withheld) in Chato District for allegedly stealing a-two month-old infant in the nearby Muganza Ward.
According to the Police Commander, the incident took place on June 27th, this year, after the infant’s mother, Ms Eliada Juma (20) had welcomed the accused in her home as a friend, where the accused used such friendship loophole to run away with the newborn.
“The accused put the baby on her back, pretending to lure him to sleep, but never came back,” he said.
