Africa-PressTanzania. THE Mwanza Regional Commissioner, (RC) Engineer Robert Gabriel has said that 1.38bn/-worth Mwanza Precious Metals Refinery building is ready for use, calling upon residents to grab the available opportunities including employment.

Owned by State Mining Corporation (Stamico), the facility is Africa’s fourthbiggest gold processor, with capacity to refine up to 480 kilogrammes (of the gold) per day, at 99.99 percent purity, affirmed the RC this week, during his tour of the refining plant.

“The building has 64 offices, with all important social services, such as water, electricity and toilets, among others; it is completed and will become operational soon… people will also benefit from skill transfer from experts in various departments,” said the RC.

He said the construction of the building was part of the government’s efforts to make the Mwanza region a commercial hub in East Africa. Chairman of the joint operation committee for the Precious Metals Refinery, Mr Deusdedith Magala, expressed his gratitude to the government for its support and making the project a success in the targeted time frame, from March to July this year.
