Africa-PressTanzania. MINISTRY of Natural Resources and Tourism is assessing number of crocodiles available in the rivers located in Katavi, Rukwa and Morogoro regions before issuing permits harvest the large semiaquatic reptiles.

Responding to a question posed by Morogoro South MP Innocent Kalogeris, Ministry of Natural Resources said harvesting of such animals found in the Crocodylidae family will be allowed once it will be discovered that number is big.

In his basic question, the lawmaker wanted to know when the government will allowing the harvesting of the crocodiles villages located along Ruvu River since the reptiles were attacking villagers.

The villages mentioned by MP were Kigamila, Bwila high, Magogoni, Bwila, Kongwa, Tulo, Lukuhinge, Mvuha and Serembala in Morogoro Rural.

“If we discover that the number of crocodiles in the area is small, we will identify crocodiles that attack people and harvest them…” the Ministry responded.
