Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has dished out 2.6bn/- for the construction of Nyakanazi strategic parking lot in Biharamulo District, Kagera region.
Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa revealed this here yesterday when addressing Nyakanazi residents after inspecting construction of the parking lot which will cost 2.6bn/- upon completion in November this year.
The PM, however, directed regional authorities in Kagera region to effectively supervise various development projects in their areas of jurisdiction, including the construction of Nyakanazi parking lot.
He also ordered authorities in Biharamulo to make sure that Nyakanazi area is surveyed and identified uses of each area for social services and industries, among others.
Earlier while at Kibondo and Kasulu districts of Kigoma region, the PM instructed District Commissioners (DCs) across the country to effectively ensure value for money in all projects being implemented in their areas of jurisdiction.
Equally, he warned members of the civil service to refrain from corrupt practices, and instead they should focus on delivering tangible results from their dockets.
Addressing residents of Kasulu District shortly after laying a foundation stone for construction of a 2.4bn/- water project in Kifura village, Mr Majaliwa said the government has been spending a lot of money on importing accessibility of social services to the people.
“President Samia has been spending a lot of money on implementation of development projects, therefore it’s the responsibility of all civil servants to monitor all the spending,” he said.
Moreover, he asked the DCs to ensure that all the projects are value for money as per the approved budget.
He said President Samia Suluhu Hassan has been approving a lot of money for implementation of development projects that include water, education and construction of road infrastructures.
“Effective implementation of the projects would help to improve service delivery to the people,” said Mr Majaliwa, asking members of the civil service to continue putting forward national interest and supervise expenditure of public funds channeled for development projects.
According to him, President Samia is determined to see full implementation of all development projects across the country in a bid to improve service delivery, noting that it was the responsibility of all civil servants to ensure all the plans are executed accordingly.
“Our President is eager to improve the economy at individual and national level, that is why we started with construction of infrastructure projects that enables Tanzanians to engage in various economic activities,” he explained.
The Premier equally asked civil servants to keep encouraging Tanzanians to continue working hard for the sake of increasing productivity.
All Tanzanians should work hard and ensure massive production in their sectors, farmers should increase production, same as businessmen and those in the manufacturing industries,” he noted.
Moreover, he called on improved efforts to increase revenue collections in the Local Government Authorities (LGAs) for effective implementation of projects that are beneficial to members of the public.
For his part, the Kigoma Regional Manager for Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (Ruwasa), Mathius Mwenda said the project worth 2.4bn/- is set to be completed in February next year.
“Completion of this project will address water shortage in Kifura village… We shall ensure the project is completed on time and at per the agreed standards,” he said.
