Africa-PressTanzania. THE government is considering a digital solution to address shortage of science and mathematics teachers across the country.

Students in over 1,000 secondary schools in Tanzania have never met face to face with their physics teacher and students in other 400 schools haven’t seen a mathematics teacher, the government said in Dodoma on Thursday.

Minister of State President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Governments Ummy Mwalimu told parliamentarians that the government is planning to recruit more science and mathematics teachers to reduce the teacher-students gap.

“It’s high time we invest in Information Communication Technology (ICT) in which competent science teachers will prepare their well-organized tutorials for students,” the minister said.

In May the government 6,949 fresh employment opportunities for teachers across the country.
