Africa-PressTanzania. MEMBERS of the House of Representatives have approved 60.3bn/- 2021/2022 budget for the Ministry of State, President’s O Office -Constitution, Legal Affairs, Public service and Good governance.

Under the budget, the ministry envisages massive reforms in legal institutions to strengthen performance, coordination and management of paralegal services, enforcement of public leaders’ integrity, and construction of Zanzibar Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Authority (ZAECA) building.

Moving the budget estimates in the house here on Wednesday, Minister, Mwalimu Haroun Ali Suleiman identified availability of justice and rule of raw, public awareness on corruption and economic sabotage related issues; and strong institutional structures and systems as some of the ministry’s priorities in the coming fiscal year.

He said the anti-corruption agency will in the coming fiscal year provide more public education on the effects of bribes and economic sabotage, investigate corruption cases and train its employees for improved performance.

Under the current financial year, the minister said, ZAECA has as of March 2021, handled 316 cases involving corruption, office abuses, embezzlement of public resources, tax evasion, conflict of interest and smuggling.

Minister Haroun said 57 cases have been closed and 228 others are in various stages of handling.

He said the institute of public administration is scheduled to provide short and long-term capacity building training for public servants.

The institute will as well conduct various researches to identify shortage and need of employees in the public service to improve service delivery to wananchi.
