I won’t betray Yanga, Niyonzima insists

Africa-PressTanzania. YOUNG Africans’ outgoing midfield maestro Haruna Niyonzima has insisted he will not play for the rival clubs if he continue his career in Tanzania.

The decorated midfielder bid farewell to the club fans during his team’s 2-0 league win over Ihefu and he is adamant that if he will play in the country he won’t join Yanga’s rival clubs as he respects his yellow and green outfit he served for more than six year since 2012.

Niyonzima told Daily News that he feels he has a few years to play before officially quitting the game and insisted that he can play elsewhere but if he will choose to continue playing in Tanzanian league he will not feature for any Yanga’s rival clubs.

“The good thing is that I have peacefully parted ways with my club. They bid farewell to me in a manner that I feel honoured.

It is the big club with great history to get the chance to part company in most respectful manner is something that I will carry in my heart forever,” said Niyonzima who also featured for Yanga’s traditional rivals Simba in 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons.

The Rwandan national was introduced in the second half of the game and was immediately handed the captain’s armband by Yanga skipper Bakari Mwamnyeto.

However, speaking after the match during a special occasion to bid him farewell, the club’s Chairman Mshindo Msolla urged Niyonzima to continue taking up coaching courses.

“I know you have CAF licence C as such, if you can go further with coaching training, one day you may be considered for either Assistant Coach of the senior team or Head Coach for the youth side.
