Africa-PressTanzania. National Assembly Speaker Job Ndugai on Tuesday ordered Serjeant-at-Arms to block indecent dressing Members of Parliament (MPs) from entering the lawmaking chamber.

His decision followed complaints that some female lawmakers are attending the august house dressed inappropriately.

Indecent dressing simply means deliberate exposure of one’s body to the public.

This practice is contrary to the acceptable norms and values of the society.“I am ordering the entire security seating at the entrance of the parliament to not allow any MP whose dress is inappropriate,” he said.

He, however, urged female legislators to abide by the parliamentary principles to avoid the embarrassment.

“This is not the first complaint, we have been receiving such complaints from time to time so we should try and abide to our principles, it is our principle,” he added.
