Africa-PressTanzania. THE government said renovation works at the national indoor stadium in Dar es Salaam are at advanced stage such that it will be complete within one month.

This was said recently in the city by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Culture, Arts and Sports Hassan Abbasi as he highlighted on what the state is doing to make sure that modern sport infrastructures are built.

“As government, we are keen to construct modern infrastructures which will enable our athletes to partake in different sport activities of their choice without problems.

“First of all, upgrading works of the existing indoor stadium are underway to the extent that after one month; the facility will put on a new face than the way it looked before.

“Our plans are to have enough Arts and Sports Arenas which will accommodate different sporting activities like Basketball, Volleyball, Boxing, Art events and many others under one roof. This is what is happening around the world,” he said.

Again, Abbasi narrated that as already promised by president Samia Suluhu Hassan, the first phase of the incoming Arts and Sports Arenas will either be constructed in Dar es Salaam or Dodoma.

“What is happening on the ground now is planning and making budget analysis before letting the construction works to unfold. We are planning to build Arts and Sports Arenas capable to house 15,000 to 20,000 people at ones,” Abbasi narrated.

He added that in the next two years, the country will have many Arts and Sports Arenas built by government and other stakeholders simply to solve problems of poor sport infrastructures in the country.

“Our target is to make sure that when people come to these Arenas to watch a particular sport, they should not be bored since there will be many social activities happening inside to make them entertained all the time,” said him.

He also lauded government for letting the Ministry for Culture, Arts and Sports stand-alone, a thing he said will help to improve its efficiency in doing works of promoting the concerned sector.
