Africa-Press – Tanzania. HEADING to the General Elections tomorrow, young people in Zanzibar have been urged to avoid emotional reactions and instead focus on maintaining national peace.
The call was made by the Director of Youth Development in Zanzibar, Mr. Shaib Ibrahim Mohamed, during a youth forum organized by the Pamoja Youth Initiative (PYI), held at the Zanzibar Beach Resort.
Mr. Shaib said that youth are often the group most easily targeted for incitement and manipulation to disrupt peace; therefore, it is their responsibility to serve as ambassadors of calm, unity, and national cohesion during this sensitive election period.
He emphasized that maintaining peace is the duty of every citizen, especially the youth who play a crucial role in shaping the country’s future. He urged them to participate peacefully in the election process, avoid inflammatory language, and take part in building a united and prosperous Zanzibar.
The forum was attended by various youth groups from different districts of Zanzibar, civil society leaders, and government representatives, who discussed the best approaches to ensuring that the upcoming election is conducted in an atmosphere of peace and stability.
