Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) prolific golfer Victor Joseph continued to shine in the national golf tournament after emerging the TPC Open Golf tournament Champion by two shots at the TPC course in Moshi, Kilimanjaro over the weekend.
According to the report from Moshi, Joseph carded aggregate score of 145 gross to win his third national title this year at the 36 holes two days event. It was organised by the club in collaboration with the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU).
He added into the cabinet another title, shortly after winning the CDF Golf Trophy that was held two months ago at the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Club in Dar es Salaam and last month’s Arusha Open at Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC).
Joseph, one of the country’s finest amateurs, defeated his closest rival Isihaka Daudi from Lugalo club, who carded 147 gross to finish overall second. Host golfer Ali Mcharo made 149 gross to take third place in the tournament, which included over 100 players from local clubs and neighbouring Rwanda.
The competition also saw host Elvis Kingai win the nett overall trophy with 145 strokes.
The hosts have also made it to the Division A and B after taking the top two prizes at both groups. In Division A the winner was former national team player Martin MacDonald with 147 shots, while Jaffari Omary took second place with 148 nett.
Geoffrey Nathaniel emerged the Division B champion with 152 nett and second place went to TPC Chairman Jaffari Ally for the countback after hitting 152 shots as well. Also hosts Mussa Joseph scored 161 nett and Division C title on a countback against Lugalo player Vitalies Magare who made similar shots.
Lugalo made it to the ladies category after Zahara Zubery and Angel Eaton took first and second place with a nett 146 and 156 respectively. Innocent Rutamu from Rwanda scored 156 nett to win the Senior title whereas second place went to host Daniel Gwacha.
In the juniors who played 18 holes category gross the title went to Ibrahim Gabriel 81 strokes, while Auni Jaffari won the nett title with 71 shots followed by John Mwizani and in the juniors who played 9 holes the winner is Nassari Ramadhani 38 nett followed by Gelvis Willbard 32 nett all from TPC.
