Africa-Press – Tanzania. AZAM have a thick forest to cross before reaching into the 2021 CECAFA Kagame Cup finals as they take on Nyasa Big Bullets in a tense semifinals duel at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam today.
The two teams will be keen to make an instant impact of reaching at the finishing line of the contest whose finals will be played at the giant Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Saturday.
For Azam, they go into the game with their heads slightly down after losing their previous game 3-2 to Zanzibar’s KMKM a defeat which simply deprived them an opportunity to continue their unbeaten run in the competition.
Azam’s Paul Peter remain the current top goal scorer after netting three goals to his name and he will be certain to break his own record today if he gets time to be featured by his side.
To reach this far, Azam outclassed KCCA 2-0 before registering a 1-0 victory against Messager Ngozi thereby pocketing six points in two games but they went on to succumb to a painful 3-2 defeat from KMKM.
On the other hand, Nyasa Big Bullets had a false start in their opening two games as they stamped back to back 1-1 draws against Express FC and Young Africans respectively.
However, they stretched their muscles in the last game against Atlabara where they produced a convincing 2-0 triumph which saw them pocketing five points and book a ticket into the last four category.
They finished group A as runners up to Express who got seven points to lead the table and the Ugandan side have had a fantastic tournament according to the way they performed.
It is good to see that most of the parading teams have deployed their young players to simply give them a glimpse of how it feels to play in an international contest.
Also, it has been a good football treatment to many fans during this off season period as they have experienced beautiful competition with talented players showcasing their potentials
