Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Parliamentary Standing Committee on Infrastructure has conducted a visit to the Kwala Dry Port to observe its operations and assess the progress of the ongoing project.

Speaking during the visit, Minister of Transport, Professor Makame Mbarawa, stated that the Kwala Dry Port helps improve the efficiency of the Dar es Salaam Port by reducing cargo congestion. He also noted that efforts are being made to ensure that various countries can easily channel their goods through the Dar es Salaam Port.

One of these initiatives includes allocating specific storage areas within the Kwala Port for different countries. For instance, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been allocated 45 hectares, Zambia 20 hectares, and Burundi, Malawi, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, and Zimbabwe each 10 hectares.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee, Selemani Kakoso, praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her investment in the port, and commended Minister Professor Makame Mbarawa for his performance in the transport sector.

He added that the project is exemplary and urged citizens to continue trusting the government’s efficiency, noting that members of parliament who attended the visit witnessed the progress and were satisfied with the developments.
