MAFINGA ARMY AND REVOLUTION IN AGRICULTURE

AfricaPress-Tanzania: The 841KJ Mafinga National Reconstruction Army is planning to set up an apricot and onion farm with the aim of the army’s independence.

The army plans to increase milk production from the current 250 liters to 1,000 liters per day.

This was stated by the Acting Commander of the 841 JKT Mafinga Regiment while outlining the strategies to carry out the mission of the JKT Chief, Major General Charles Mbuge who instructed all forces to ensure food security.

He says there are currently 29 cows producing between 200 and 250 liters per day and that the strategy is to ensure the Regiment has 100 cows that will produce 1,000 liters per day.

Regarding agriculture, Lieutenant Colonel Chalamila said they have increased by cultivating 500 acres from 200 acres and cultivating maize, beans and sunflowers.
And Lieutenant Francis Breck, who owns a farm and livestock unit in the force, said they planned to increase livestock breeds to increase productivity.
He said they are also planning to upgrade planting pastures from 22 acres to 70 acres which will be used in the dry season.

JKT is implementing a five-year strategy to increase productivity in the agricultural, livestock and fisheries sectors a strategy managed by the Steering Committee and its Chairman, Colonel Hassan Mabena.
