Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has issued a two-month ultimatum to Lindi Municipal Council to set aside a piece of land for the construction of a bus station and parking area at Mingoyo, Mnazi Mmoja area.
Mr Majaliwa issued the directive after inspecting the Mingoyo Weighbridge at Mnazi Mmoja area, during his working tour in the area to the status of the community devel- opment projects.
“The area is growing rapidly and needs to have a bus station as well as a truck stop to reduce congestion at the vicinity,” said Mr Majaliwa.
The Premier also directed Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) Manager in Lindi, Eng Efatha Mlavi, to renovate the Mingoyo Weighbridge to facilitate its operations, which includes entry and exit of vehicles at the area.
Elaborating, he said the government has disbursed a sum of 2.5bn/- to facilitate the rehabilitation of 42 weigh bridges countrywide, including the Mingoyo one at Mnazi Mmoja that is located along the Mtwara-Mingoyo-Masasi road.
He, however, noted that the Ministry of Works and Transport has set aside also a budget in the 2021/2022 financial year to install state- of- the -art electronic load cells at the 42 centres.
In response, the residents of Mnazi Mmoja extended appreciation to the government for responding and working on their concern and pledged to further continue supporting the State in its endeavors.
In another development, the PM inspected the development of the 14.1 kilometre road stretch from Hingawali-Navanga to Navanga-Pangabuhi (8km) that is being constructed to gravel level. In the course, the project implementation stands at 40 per cent, the Prime Minister was told.
The Premier, hence, in- spected the construction of the 300m/- road that will be a great relief to the people residing in the area and expected to ease movement of people and their goods.
