MAKINI outlines three key priorities if elected

Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE presidential candidate of the Makini Party, Mr Coaster Kibonde, has pledged that, if elected, he will provide free education from early childhood through to university level.

He also promised that within his first 100 days in office, he would form a government of national unity that includes his competitors for presidential seat as ministers, enabling them to contribute to the nation’s development.

Mr Kibonde made the pledges during the presidential election campaign rally held on Monday at Mawenzi Market in Morogoro Town.

Mr Kibonde, who was accompanied by his running mate, Ms Azza Haji Suleiman, outlined three main priorities for his government if he wins the upcoming General Election scheduled for October 29th, this year. These priorities focus on education, health and agriculture.

He said that every Tanzanian will have access to education without barriers, noting that lack of education limits economic and social progress.

“A young Tanzanian without education is like an individual serving a life sentence. That is why our party is committed to providing education at all levels free of charge,” Mr Kibonde said.

Regarding health, he said his government would introduce a national health insurance scheme called “Makini Care,” which every citizen must have to access medical services when faced with health challenges.

On agriculture, Mr Kibonde said every Tanzanian would be allocated one acre of land and a tractor to support farming activities, aiming to improve household incomes and the national economy.

“There is a challenge in the pigeon pea market. If elected, I will engage with the government of India to facilitate the purchase of pigeon peas,” he said.

Another priority is to provide one million free motorcycles (boda bodas) to transport operators. This initiative will include short-term road safety training conducted by the police and issuance of licences.

He also announced plans to provide loans amounting to 10 per cent of council funds, ensuring strict supervision by Social Development officers to prevent misuse. These loans will be given on a commercial basis but without interest.

“The implementation of these priorities will ensure every citizen’s right to social and economic services,” Mr Kibonde added.

His running mate Ms Azza Haji Suleiman urged Tanzanians to continue protecting the country’s peace and unity, values established by their ancestors in the fight for justice.

She called on youths and citizens to recognise that economic and social development is only possible in a peaceful and stable environment.

“We must all cherish and commit to maintaining peace and stability because when peace is disrupted, those who suffer the most are women and children. We condemn politicians who seek to undermine our peace,” Suleiman said while appealing for votes.
