Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE much anticipated Mapinduzi Cup gets under way today with a series of entertaining activities ahead of the opening matches at the New Amaan Complex in Unguja.

Football fans will be treated to a thrilling double-header, with hosts Mlandege taking on Singida Black Stars in the opening match, scheduled to kick off around 4:15pm.

Later in the evening, Azam FC will face Uganda’s URA FC in the second fixture, which is set to start at 8:15pm.

The official opening ceremony will be spiced up by live musical performances, headlined by popular artists Dulla Makabila and Dogo Paten.

The duo will lead a list of performers expected to entertain fans throughout the night, adding a celebratory atmosphere to the tournament’s launch.

This year’s Mapinduzi Cup has attracted a total of 10 teams, including Azam FC, URA FC, Mlandege, Singida Black Stars, Simba, Young Africans, Fufuni SC, Muembe Makumbi, KVZ and TRA United.

The teams have been divided into three groups. Group A consists of Mlandege, Azam FC, Singida Black Stars and URA FC. Group B features Simba, Muembe Makumbi and Fufuni SC, while Group C includes Yanga, KVZ and TRA United.

Matches will be hosted across two venues, with the New Amaan Complex in Unguja and Gombani Stadium in Pemba set to stage the games throughout the competition.

At stake is a lucrative prize package, with the tournament winners set to pocket 150m/-, while the runners-up will take home 100m/-.
