Matola: Job not Done as Simba Target Group Stage

Africa-Press – Tanzania. SIMBA SC will welcome back their fans at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium tonight as they look to complete the job against Nsingizini Hotspurs in the CAF Confederation Cup second leg. The Tanzanian giants hold a commanding 3–0 advantage from the first leg played in Eswatini.

Assistant Coach Seleman Matola underscored that the team remains focused and fully prepared to finish the task at home. Despite the cushion, he warned against complacency, insisting qualification to the group stage is not yet secured.

“We have not qualified yet. We are going back to restart our home game and ensure we secure a place in the group stage. The players are ready and motivated to give their best on home soil,” Matola said.

He added that playing in front of their fans again after serving a CAF home-game ban would provide an extra boost for his side.

“We know our supporters will be behind us passionately and that energy will drive the players to perform at their highest level. Every minute of the match matters we must stay organised and take advantage of every chance,” he said.

Tonight’s match marks Simba’s first home fixture with spectators since their ban was lifted, a factor expected to add atmosphere and confidence to a team seeking to extend its strong continental form.

On the other side, Nsingizini Hotspurs Head Coach Mandla Qhogi acknowledged the challenge of overturning the three-goal deficit but said his players remain hopeful of producing a competitive performance. “There is always pressure when you are chasing a score, especially away in front of a big crowd,” Qhogi said.

“If we can avoid conceding early, it will give us a chance. We’ve studied Simba’s tactics and must stay focused for the full 90 minutes.”

Qhogi described Simba as one of Africa’s top sides and admitted his team must maintain intensity throughout.

“They are strong and very professional. We cannot afford to switch off; we must compete until the final whistle,” he said.

Simba’s convincing first-leg win, coupled with the return of their fans, puts them in a strong position to progress to the group stage. However, as Matola stressed, the home side are taking nothing for granted.
