Africa-PressTanzania. SIMBA assistant coach Selemani Matola has boasted that his team’s mission is to collect maximum points in every match as the Premier League race gets hotter.

“The key in the title race is to take each match very seriously,” said Matola. “We’re happy with the team and the players and the efforts they make,” he added.

The reigning champions have managed to collect up nine points in their Lake Zone tour of Mainland Premier league assignments. They on Saturday beat their hosts Gwambina FC 1-0 in Misungwi, Mwanza in their third match of the Lake Zone fixture.They also Mwadui and Kagera Sugar previously.

“Every match for us is the final, three points are vital for our race,”

“Our recent match against Gwambina was tough and the ground was not too friendly to enable us play the way we wanted to play our football,”

“This compelled us to change our football pattern and instead we opted to play long balls to produce desired results,” said the club’s assistant coach, Selemani Matola.

In what delights Simba to temporarily lead the table countless of yesterday’s match results that pitted Young Africans against Azam FC, the club’s inspirational midfielder Clatous Chama did not hide his emotions after admitting that their duel against Gwambina was tough but nevertheless, they managed to collect all three points and climb to the top of the table.

“Yesterday was lit as we comfortably bagged 3 points,” he said.

The club’s information officer, Haji Manara had no more words to say rather than saying ‘Thanks God we are on top’.However, Simba’s league leadership could be just temporary, depending on last night’s Yanga-Azam match results.

The table may affect Simba’s top position had Yanga beaten or drawn with Azam last night. After beating Gwambina, Simba had moved to the top of the table with 58 points, trailing their traditional rivals, Young Africans with a point as Azam are third with 51 points.
