Africa-PressTanzania. LIKE a bunch of flowers bloom in the garden, ladies golfers brightly decorated the World’s Mothers’ Day at Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Golf course over the weekend.

It was an 18-hole golf event organised by the Lugalo ladies section and brought together ladies and invited men to make it more meaningful.

Host Vicky Elias at the end emerged the silver category gross winner after grossing 81 strokes as Angel Eaton finished second with two shots adrift. Elias and Eaton commended the section for a wonderful event as they claimed to have enjoyed it enormously.

Silver nett prizes went to Khadija Suleman and Christina Charles who netted 73 and 77 strokes respectively to win the top and second prizes. Bronze gross winner was Maryanne Mugo who carded 98 strokes.

She also won the best dressed lady’s prize, while Mwamini Nassoro who grossed 109 strokes finished second. Bronze category nett prize winner was Joyce Ndyetabura who netted 84 strokes while S.

Bwaguzo who carded 90 nett finished the runner up. The event had no shortage of prizes. All the way from Arusha Gymkhana Club was Neema Olomi who won the guest prize after posting 89 strokes.

Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) honourary treasurer Zuhura Zuberi who netted 98 strokes was the event’s bobby.

The men’s Division A prize went to the youthful Marius Kajuna who netted 74 strokest, Ernest Sengeu who carded 75 won the Division B prize. Division C prize went to Lese Sayore who bagged 73 nett.

The best dressed men’s prize went to G. Kivaria. Winners were handed over their prizes by the event’s chief guest Maryanne Mugo who appreciated all those who participated in the event especially men who responded to the call.

The club’s Ladies Section Captain, Hawa Wanyeche thanked all participants for turning up and making the event a huge success.

“Your presence is what gives us the strength to organize competitions, we also welcome advices if there is a place we did not go right so we can make adjustments in the future.

“I would like to inform you that today’s (Sunday) tournament is sponsored by the ladies section, let’s congratulate ourselves for that.”

Wanyeche extended special thanks to her committee for the excellent work led by herself, competition secretary Hilda Viggo, treasurer Ndyetabura and Secretary Queen Siraki.
