Africa-Press – Tanzania. ZANZIBAR: Representatives from various African countries have joined Tanzanians to pay their last respects to the former President Ali Hassan Mwinyi saying that the fallen man’s legacy will remain inspirational to leaders both in Africa and the world in general.

Addressing multitude who gathered at the New Amaan Sports Complex in Zanzibar on Saturday for the state funeral, Namibia’s Vice President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said that the late Mwinyi has followed well the footsteps of the founder of the nation, Mwalimu Nyerere and as a country they have benefited from his various contributions.

“Mwinyi was one of those African leaders who has made a significant contribution in sum mending cooperation between the people of Tanzania and the people of the world following the footsteps of Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and Namibia is one of the many countries that have benefited significantly in cementing that relations that continue to grow.

“In our country there is a saying that you should hear your friend when he is celebrating but not when he is mourning, you have to go. Our condolences to the people of Tanzania and the family of Ali Hassan Mwinyi,” Namibia’s Vice President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said.

On the other hand, the Speaker of Burundi’s Parliament, Emmanuel Sinzohagera said the death of the hero is not only a loss for Tanzanians but for Africa and the whole world.

“As we mourn the departed leader, we pray that his legacy continues to inspire present and future generations. Mzee Mwinyi positioned Tanzania in the international arena through his wisdom and inspired leadership. He will be really missed…it is a great loss not only for Tanzania but the region, Africa and the whole world,” Speaker of the Parliament of Burundi, Emmanuel Sinzohagera commented.
