Africa-Press – Tanzania. YOUNG Africans striker, Clement Mzize, will be sidelined for between eight to 10 weeks after the club confirmed he will undergo surgery for a persistent knee injury.
The 20-year-old forward has been struggling with knee problems for some time.
Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, said the decision for the said surgery followed consultations between the club’s medical team, the technical bench and the player.
“The last time we updated the public on Clement Mzize’s injury, he was still recovering. However, he continued to experience pain whenever he returned to training. After thorough discussion, it was agreed that surgery was necessary,” Kamwe said.
Despite the setback, Yanga have returned to training in preparation for their upcoming league match against KMC on Sunday at the KMC Stadium in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam.
Players resumed training immediately after returning to camp, focusing fully on the fixture.
The club also confirmed that their match against Tanzania Prisons, originally scheduled to take place in Dodoma, has been postponed. Yanga are waiting for a new date to be announced by the League Board.
