Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) has continued its program of providing conservation education and promoting domestic tourism in schools.

On November 20, 2025, officials from the Authority visited Banjika Secondary School in Karatu, Arusha Region, as part of this initiative.

During the visit, conservation and tourism experts engaged students in lessons on the importance of environmental conservation, highlighted Ngorongoro’s tourist attractions, and encouraged students to become ambassadors for conservation and tourism.

This includes forming school environmental clubs to actively participate in protecting natural resources.

Speaking during the visit, Chief Conservation Officer for Marketing, Mr Michael Makombe, said the program aims to equip students with knowledge and skills in tourism and conservation, enabling them to promote environmental protection and Tanzania’s tourist destinations.

“Students are vital stakeholders in conservation, environmental protection, and tourism. At Ngorongoro, we have been distributing tree seedlings to schools in Karatu, Monduli, Arusha, Mbulu, and other areas as part of our efforts to instill a culture of environmental care. Students learn the importance of conservation and Ngorongoro’s tourist attractions, becoming our ambassadors within their communities,” he said.

The Head Mistress of Banjika Secondary School, Ms Ritha Uwo, noted that all trees planted at the school since 2005 have been provided by the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority.

She called on the Authority to continue offering conservation and tourism education to primary and secondary students, highlighting that such education often extends to their families at home, further promoting domestic tourism and environmental stewardship.
