Africa-Press – Tanzania. CCM presidential running mate, Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, has said that the significant increase in the agriculture budget under President Samia Suluhu Hassan has driven major transformations in the country.

He added that the acquisition of modern land survey equipment has acted as a catalyst for meaningful change, benefiting farmers across Tanzania.

Speaking to residents of Tabora during a campaign rally held yesterday at Utwale football ground at Itobo Village, Nzega District, Dr Nchimbi said that when President Samia assumed office in 2021, the agriculture development budget was 294bn/- but within four and a half years, it has risen to1.2tri/-.

“President Samia has demonstrated a true commitment to farmers. The increase in budget has resulted in greater subsidies for seeds and fertilisers, expanded irrigation projects from just 13 to 780 and introduced land surveying using modern technology for the first time,” he said.

He explained that the government has procured 143 new land survey machines and distributed them across various districts, enabling accurate assessment of soil quality and identifying suitable crops for different areas.

Dr Nchimbi noted that the initiative has led to an average annual increase of five percent in crop yields in Tabora alone, significantly boosting farmers’ incomes and contributing to the national economy.

He stressed that the achievements were made possible through close collaboration between President Samia and the Minister of Agriculture, Hussein Bashe, who has been a key partner in overseeing the reforms. Bashe is also CCM’s parliamentary candidate for Nzega Urban.

On the health sector, Dr Nchimbi said the sixth-phase government has established 647 new health centres, 119 hospitals across various councils and facilitated the provision of CT-Scan machines in 26 hospitals nationwide.

In Nzega District, he pledged the construction of four new health centres that will provide maternal, child and surgical services.

Regarding education, he said that over the next five years, Nzega will benefit from four new primary schools, six secondary schools and 15 teacher houses.

On water access, Dr Nchimbi reported that coverage has improved from 84 to 90 per cent in urban areas and from 70 to 80 per cent in rural areas. He pledged to expand the Lake Victoria water project to reach more communities, including Bukene and Itobo.
