Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE National Environment Management Council (NEMC) has fully prepared to participate in the upcoming sports competitions organized by the Federation of Sports for Public Institutions, Organizations, and Private Companies in Tanzania (SHIMMUTA).

On October 28, 2025, NEMC officially launched sports equipment sponsored by the Climate Change Adaptation Fund Project, which will be used by its athletes during the games.

Speaking during the handover of the equipment, NEMC’s Director General, Dr. Immaculate Sware Semesi, emphasized that sports are vital for human health as they enhance work performance. She also highlighted the importance of environmental management and conservation across the country.

Dr. Semesi added that NEMC’s participation in the games presents an important opportunity to engage with the community and strengthen collaboration between public servants and the private sector.

Meanwhile, the NEMC Sports Chairperson, Mr. Fortinatus Patrick, said that NEMC teams are well-prepared to compete in all sports disciplines and are determined to perform excellently in this year’s tournament.

On his part, Mr. Dickson Mjinja, NEMC’s Director of Administration and Finance and the team’s patron, stated that NEMC is well-prepared to be contenders—not just participants—in all registered sports categories.

In collaboration with the Climate Change Adaptation Project, NEMC has successfully facilitated preparations for the SHIMMUTA 2025 Games, which will take place in Mwanza from November 13 to 29, 2025. The event also aims to educate the Tanzanian public about environmental conservation and climate change issues.
