Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA’s industrial sector continues to provide solutions to employment opportunities, driven by the government’s commitment to improving the environment for establishing industries so they can employ more Tanzanian youth and enable them to earn income.
This was stated by the Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Dennis Londo, during the official launch of Afriport Apparel Limited factory on February 6, 2026, in Dar es Salaam.
Londo added that the investment is clear evidence of the strong confidence international investors have in Tanzania, as well as the success of the government’s policies and strategies aimed at promoting an industrial-based economy.
He further noted that the government has continued to create a favorable investment climate through policy reforms, infrastructure development, and the simplification of business procedures, to ensure Tanzania becomes a hub for business production in the East and Central African region.
Londo emphasized that the investment aligns with the objectives of Tanzania Development Vision 2050 by strengthening the industrial sector, increasing exports, and stimulating the transfer of technology and skills to Tanzanians.
On her part, the Ambassador of Ireland to Tanzania, Nicola Brennan, commended the Government for its efforts to attract investment and grow various sectors of the economy. She said Tanzania continues to build a positive international reputation as a safe country with abundant investment opportunities.
Meanwhile, the Director of PORTWEST, a long-established company from Ireland, Harry Hughes, expressed satisfaction with the strategic investment decision, noting that the company was attracted by Tanzania’s political stability, business-friendly environment, and a motivated, capable workforce.
He pledged that the company would continue to work closely with relevant authorities to ensure the factory produces goods that meet international standards and contributes to the growth of Tanzania’s industrial sector.
In another development, the factory’s Human Resources Director, Anna Lucas, announced the availability of various employment opportunities for Tanzanians, explaining that in addition to jobs, the factory will provide professional training to help employees enhance skills that meet the demands of the global labor market.
From an economic perspective, the investment is expected to directly strengthen Tanzania’s international image as an investment hub in Africa, potentially attracting more investors across different production and service sectors.
The launch of Afriport Apparel Limited factory further demonstrates Tanzania’s success in attracting major industrial investments, creating jobs for youth, and strengthening the contribution of the manufacturing sector to the national economy.
