Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE ruling party CCM has declared a firm stance against corruption and manipulation during its internal nomination process ahead of the October 2025 General Election.

CCM Deputy Secretary-General (Zanzibar) Dr Mohamed Said Mohammed Dimwa made the announcement during a tour by the Special National Executive Committee (NEC) Secretariat in the South Unguja Region.

He addressed party members from branches, wards, constituencies and districts, urging adherence to party ethics and democratic principles.

Dr Dimwa vowed that CCM will take strict disciplinary measures against any member, leader, or official found engaging in bribery or other misconduct during the nomination process.

“Every member has the right to seek nomination based on merit, equality and adherence to CCM procedures—not through the influence of individuals pursuing personal interests,” he said.

He said that the party has officially launched the internal nomination process for parliamentary, House of Representatives and local council positions, with application forms available from May 1 to May 15, 2025.

Dr Dimwa encouraged all interested members to participate by collecting nomination forms and following the party’s set procedures, emphasising that this would strengthen internal democracy.

“This is an opportunity for members from all backgrounds to engage in a fair and competitive process aimed at serving the people. Every member has the right to vote and to be elected,” he said.

“This system encourages competition and final decisions will be made by higher committees based on each candidate’s qualifications.”

He also elaborated on recent amendments to the 1977 CCM Constitution (2022 edition), passed during a special general meeting held from January 18–19, this year, saying the amendments expand the number of voters involved in nominating parliamentary and local government candidates.

“These constitutional reforms are designed to enhance transparency and inclusiveness, encouraging broader member participation and reducing concerns about favouritism in the selection of candidates,” he noted.
