Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE government has disbursed a total of 11.1bn/- to beneficiaries of the Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) in Dodoma Region during the 2024/2025 financial year in a continued effort to alleviate poverty among vulnerable households.
Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Ms Rosemary Senyamule revealed this during the official opening of a performance review meeting to assess the implementation of the TASAF programme in the region.
“The sixth-phase government, in collaboration with development partners, has continued to invest heavily in TASAF. Between July 2024 and April 2025, the region received a total of 11.1bn/- for beneficiary payments, programme supervision and monitoring,” RC Senyamule stated.
She added that the government is currently working on a proper strategy to identify vulnerable households to ensure the programme benefits those most in need.
“It is the government’s expectation that by the next assessment, a good number of current beneficiaries will have graduated from the programme, paving the way for new eligible households to be enrolled in future phases,” she added.
Meanwhile, the RC directed council experts to continue providing entrepreneurship training and project management skills to the beneficiaries so that the funds can be used to start income-generating projects and improve household incomes.
On her part, the TASAF Regional Coordinator, Ms Josephine Paschal, revealed the various payment methods used to disburse funds to the beneficiaries, noting that a total of 45,771 households were reached between July and April 2025.
“Out of these, 26,275 households, equivalent to 57 per cent, were paid in cash, while 19,474 households, or 43 per cent, received their payments through banks and mobile phones under the Epayment system.
However, TASAF’s emphasis remains on ensuring that all beneficiaries are paid through electronic methods,” said Ms Paschal.
She further noted that all 45,771 households have received entrepreneurship training offered by experts during each disbursement cycle, with the aim of empowering them to start small-scale projects that can help improve their income levels and economic resilience.
