Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Standing Committees of Parliament are expected to officially convene from Tuesday, January 13, to Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Parliamentary Offices in Dodoma.

The sessions form part of the preparations for the Second Meeting of Parliament, which is scheduled to begin on January 27, 2026.

According to a statement released today by the Communication and Public Education Unit of the Parliamentary Office, Members of Parliament are required to arrive in Dodoma on Monday, January 12, 2026. This measure is intended to ensure that all necessary preparations are completed before the committee sessions commence.

The statement further noted that during the sessions, Parliamentary Committees will undertake a number of key activities. Among them is the election of Committee Chairpersons and Deputy Chairpersons, in accordance with Rule 138(11) of the 2025 Parliamentary Standing Orders.

In addition, the committees will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with their respective ministries and institutions, as well as relevant policies and laws related to their mandates, as outlined in the Eighth Schedule of the Parliamentary Standing Orders under Rule 140. At the same time, the Budget Committee will make preparations for motions to be presented and debated in Parliament.
