Africa-Press – Tanzania. Children with special needs in Singida Region will get more opportunities to go to school in a three-year Comprehensive Advocacy Strategic Plan on Inclusive Education (IE) launched by the Full Pentecostal Church of Tanzania (FPCT).

The strategic plan will be implemented by Singida Town Centre Church.

According to the Advocacy Coordinator for Inclusive Education project, Ms Faith Mdachi, the Comprehensive Advocacy Strategic Plan aims at bringing to an end all the challenges facing children with disabilities in acquiring education.

Ms Mdachi made the remarks during the Project Advocacy Network (PAN) meeting held at Singida Town Centre Church over the weekend, which aimed at giving its members an opportunity to review the strategic plan for possible inputs.

“PAN is an association of several Civil Society Organisations (CSO’s). It was formed to address various issues related to advocacy. It uses advocacy strategy steps to do lobbying and awareness activities that will bring access to Inclusive Education” she explained.

She further said that advocacy formed part of the project strategy targeting Most Vulnerable Children (MVC) as right holders noting that the main objective of advocacy is to improve access to education for the MVC and promote Inclusive Education in the region.

Commenting on Strategic Plan draft, she said the advocacy work will promote participation of local communities in the effective implementation of inclusive education, persuade educational authorities to think more about social vulnerability in relation to children’s inclusion in education and in turn cooperate in advocating the same to the relevant authorities.

The advocacy work will also stimulate government’s support to schools in implementing Inclusive Education as well as inculcate government’s support to the developed model schools and assessment centres with potential for replication.

PAN member Ms Adelick Wilbroad said the target for the project is to ensure all children with special needs acquired equal opportunity for quality education urging all the community to support the project.

Pastor Yohana Msaghaa noted that since the project kicked off, some of the parents were now taking their children with disabilities to school voluntarily.
