Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has arrived in Kigoma Region today, April 16, 2026, to participate in the opening of the Lake Tanganyika Business and Investment Forum.

At the forum, Dr Nchemba is expected to serve as the guest of honor during the official opening ceremony, which brings together government leaders, business executives, and investors from countries bordering Lake Tanganyika. These include Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Tanzania, which is hosting the forum.

The forum began on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, and is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, April 18, 2026. It aims to strengthen economic cooperation and promote investment across the Lake Tanganyika region.

Upon arrival at Kigoma Airport, the Prime Minister was received by various government officials led by the Kigoma Regional Commissioner, Simon Sirro.

Lake Tanganyika is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world, bordered by four countries: Tanzania, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Zambia. The region has significant economic potential due to its rich natural resources and strategic location. Investment forums like this one are crucial for fostering collaboration among these nations, aiming to boost trade and economic development in the area.
