Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa, today, August 13, 2025, inspected new buses for the second phase of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT-2) project and ordered the contractor to finish the remaining work in time.
PM Majaliwa visited the project’s infrastructure, including the main bus terminal at Mbagala Rangi Tatu and Gerezani in Dar es Salaam.
During the inspection, the Prime Minister visited the construction of a special gas refueling station for the buses being built at the Mbagala Rangi Tatu terminal.
Speaking during the inspection, the Prime Minister directed the project implementers to work day and night to complete the remaining areas, enabling the project to start providing services within this month.
On this tour, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament and Coordination), William Lukuvi; Deputy Minister in the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government) Zainab Katimba; Secretary General of the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament and Coordination), Dr. Jim Yonazi; as well as officials from the Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA), Dar Rapid Transit Agency (DART), and the National Institute of Transport (NIT).
The BRT-2 project is expected to improve the efficiency of public transportation in Dar es Salaam and provide modern, safe, and fast services to the citizens.
