Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has hailed Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan’s sincere recognition of the contribution of religious denominations, including BAKWATA and all education stakeholders in strengthening values, advancing knowledge, and bringing about national solidarity through education.
He said that education cannot be completed without values, as they are what build dignity, respect, and social solidarity. “The Sixth Phase Government has been at the forefront of ensuring that education develops knowledge and skills, in line with an upbringing that strengthens good character and patriotic values in Tanzanian youth”.
He said this yesterday when he represented President Dr Samia at the Mufti Education Awards night held in Dar es Salaam.
“President Dr Samia highly commends BAKWATA for the great efforts you are making in all matters of social development, especially your contribution in promoting education and strengthening national solidarity through the formation of values and knowledge. The government greatly appreciates the contribution of religious institutions like BAKWATA in supporting the upbringing of children and youth.” Said Majaliwa.
Majaliwa said that the Supreme Council of Muslims of Tanzania (BAKWATA) has made a great contribution in developing the education sector in the country, as it has established and operated schools, madrasas, and colleges that provide quality religious and secular education, along with building good values for the youth.
Additionally, PM Majaliwa said that the Mufti Education Awards is a national platform to recognize and appreciate unique contributions in education, creativity, upbringing, and values of Tanzanian youth. “This event reflects the image of a nation with dedicated people who value education, and who contribute to the well-being of our nation regardless of religious beliefs or political positions.”
He said that the awards recognize creativity, leadership, community solidarity, and the contribution of stakeholders in ensuring that education is inclusive, quality, and sustainable. This is an event that demonstrates in practice the proverb of the Prophet (PBUH): “Seek knowledge even if it is as far as China,” indicating that education is a tool for the liberation and development of any society, and there are no limits in seeking it.”
He said that the government, on its part, through the 2050 Development Vision, has set long-term goals to ensure that it will develop cooperation between religious institutions, the private sector, and international organizations to ensure that education continues to be the engine of national development.
Likewise, Majaliwa has called on the private sector, religious organizations, development organizations, and society in general to invest more in education. “The goal is to ensure that we build our youth to be creative, fair and producers of employment opportunities instead of just job seekers, increase investment in education”.
For his part, the Mufti and Grand Sheikh of Tanzania, Dr Abubakar Zubeir bin Ally, said that the awards were given due to the appreciation of education because Islam is education, not ignorance. “Education is the life of Islam and is the main pillar of Islam. Islam has a great contribution to the world in education.”
Likewise, Sheikh Dr Abubakar has congratulated President Dr Samia for her good management of “The way he manages education in the country. Along with this, we also greatly appreciate the various stakeholders who are dedicated to managing the education sector and focusing on education issues.”
For his part, Bakwata Education Director Ally Abdalah Ally said that the awards program created by His Excellency the Mufti aims to elevate and encourage education stakeholders who are dedicated and committed to positive changes in education for sustainable development. At the event, twenty-three awards were presented.
