Africa-Press – Tanzania. PENTATHLON Multisport Tanzania (PMT), in partnership with the Fédération Internationale de Sports d’Obstacles (FISO), has announced a four-day introductory training programme.
The training is designed to enhance technical expertise in the rapidly growing sport of adventure obstacle racing (OCR).
The training is scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam from January 29 to February 1, 2026, and will feature a blend of theoretical instruction and practical field exercises.
Participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to serve as certified Technical Officers in Adventure Racing events.
According to PMT official Abdallah Chapa, the programme marks a significant step in building local capacity as Tanzania continues to expand its involvement in global multisport and obstacle-sport competitions.
The training is open to aspiring officials, sports practitioners, and enthusiasts seeking formal grounding in the discipline.
Chapa noted that the four-day course is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of the rules and regulations governing adventure racing, along with hands-on skills essential for event management and officiating.
“Key focus areas will include decisionmaking, safety management and effective communication, competencies considered crucial for technical officiating,” he said.
He added that upon completion, participants will receive recognition as Level 1 Adventure Racing Technical Officers, in accordance with international standards.
The participation fee has been set at 200,000/- according to organisers.
With support from global bodies such as World Obstacle and the national federation PMT, the initiative is expected to expand the pool of qualified officials and elevate the overall quality of OCR competitions in Tanzania.
PMT has been working tirelessly to promote the newly introduced OCR sport in the country since its emergence in recent years.
