Africa-PressTanzania. The Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Innocent Bashungwa has expressed his sympathy to the members of the Premier League team Polisi Tanzania who sustained injuries in the road accident in Moshi Kilimanjaro on Friday.

Players and the team’s officials were injured after their bus got an accident on July 9th , 2021, as they left for training at TPC Stadium in Kilimanjaro.

The minister wished all of the victims quick recovery so that they continue to serve their team in the remaining two matches of the league.

In retrospect, Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has rescheduled all the 33rd round Mainland Premier League matches from July 14th to 15th as requested by Polisi Tanzania.

On Friday morning last week, Polisi Tanzania were involved in a serious road accident when they were returning from training sessions whereby 18 people sustained different degrees of injuries and they were rushed to Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College (KCMC) for treatment.

However, according to the statement issued yesterday by the board’s department of Information and Communication, said the changes have come into effect after receiving a former request by Polisi Tanzania to redraft their fixture against Kagera Sugar.

“In order to create balance to all the teams parading in the league as the season nears its finishing line, we have decided to reschedule all the 33rd round games which will now be played on July 15th and not 14th as earlier announced.

“We wish Polisi Tanzania players and officials who were injured in the accident a quick recovery and all the best to the teams as they prepare for their upcoming league encounters,” reads part of the statement.

All 18 teams on the table will descend at different playing venues across the country on July 15th to play their 33rd round league assignments with interesting battles expected from the teams at the bottom of the table which are fighting to escape relegation.

Polisi Tanzania through their official Instagram account on Friday announced that their striker Gerald Mdamu broke both legs due to the accident.

Among the casualties, Mdamu was the one who sustained serious injuries and get well soon messages from sports stakeholders, clubs and individuals have been channeled to him in particular and other club members.

The Moshi based club have been among of the best performing teams this season no wonder they sit comfortably on 7th place with 42 points from 32 encounters.

They however have an upper hand to bag all six points from their remaining two matches since both of them will be played at their backyard Ushirika Stadium in Moshi.

After taking on Kagera Sugar on July 15th, they will host relegated side Mwadui at the same venue hence a good chance to achieve success in both duels.
