PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan on Thursday sent condolences to the Speaker of the Parliament, Job Ndugai following the death of former Konde Constituency Member of Parliament (MP on ACTWazalendo ticket), Khatib Said Haji The outspoken ACTWazalendo MP died yesterday while undergoing treatment at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH).
“I send my condolences to the family, friends, the Parliament and all residents of Konde constituency for the demise of our beloved MP,” she said.
Following his death, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Tulia Ackson adjourned the day’s parliament session.
The late Haji was buried yesterday at 4 pm in Pemba. Haji was born on July 31, 1962 in Zanzibar and he had been the MP for the constituency since 2010, until when he passed away in the wee hours yesterday.
He was also the constituency MP on Civic United Front (CUF) ticket before he defected to ACT-Wazalendo and from 1984 to 1987; he became the Isles Minister of Agriculture.
Haji is the third legislator to die since the 12th Parliament started in November, 2020 with the list including Martha Umbula, who was Manyara Region Special Seats (MP-CCM) dying on January 21, 2021 in Mumbai, India where she was undergoing treatments.
